The NGO’s get a Unique Id after the NGO Darpan Registration. The unique id will be like AB/2020/0001234.

In order to maintain a online central database of all the Non-Government Organisations (NGO), Voluntary organizations, Society and trust, the Government of India has instructed them to take NGO Darpan registration.

Any NGO, Society or Trust in order to achieve their purpose or objective (welfare activities) wants to avail the funding or grant under various schemes of Ministries, Government bodies or from any department of the government are required to have the NGO Darpan Registration
 

NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog was formed in the year 2015. It is formed with the aim to provide a decisive direction and tactical input to the development process of India.
 

This serves as a ‘Think tank’ to the Government both at the centre level and the state level. This helps in implementing the various policies of the Government. One such implementation and execution is to maintain the database of all the Non-Government Organisations (NGO), Voluntary organizations, Society and trust in one place in a centralized manner.

A centralized portal known as NGO-DARPAN portal (previously referred as NGO-Partnership System (NGO-PS) has been introduced by the Government where such organizations have to register themselves for availing various schemes under the policy of the Government.
 

Who are eligible to get the NGO Darpan Registration?

The following entities are eligible for NGO Darpan Registration:

  1. Non-Government Organisations (NGO), 
  2. Voluntary organizations, 
  3. Society 
  4. Trust
  5. Section 8 Company

The following are the benefits of NGO Darpan Registration:

  1. The registration helps in availing the grant or funding from the government.
  2. Credibility of the Non-Government Organisations (NGO), Voluntary organizations, Society and trust gets improved which in turn helps in seeking the donations from the general public also.
  3. The NGO’s can directly apply for the government grant if they have the NITI Aayog registration.
  4. Information and resources related to schemes and projects offered by various Government ministries, departments, subsidiary bodies, etc, can be easily accessed.
  5. NGO Darpan portal helps to maintain the database of NGO’s presently active and the blacklisted NGO’s.
     

Documents required for NGO Darpan Registration

  • Scanned copy of Certificate of Registration. The scanned copy should be in pdf or .jpg format and the file size should not exceed 2MB.
  • In case of Trust, the first page of the trust deed and that page of the trust deed where the signatures of all the parties involved in trust is mentioned.
  • Organization’s PAN card. PAN card should be uploaded either in pdf format or .jpg format and the file size should not exceed 2MB.
  • Board Members PAN card & Aadhar number. The documents should be either in pdf format or .jpg format and the file size should not exceed 2MB.
     

Requisite Information for NGO Darpan Registration on NGO Darpan site

The following requisite details should be prepared before going for the NGO Darpan Registration on NGO Darpan site and the details are:

  1. Details regarding the registration such as Registration number, date of registration, under which act the registration had been obtained.
  2. PAN number of the organization.
  3. Full name with contact details such as email id and mobile number of all the board members of the organization.
  4. Details of Achievements.
     

Eligibility

a.  The Non-Government Organizations (NGO), Voluntary organizations, Society and trust having valid PAN number becomes eligible for making application for NGO Darpan Registration.

b.  A valid email id and phone number of the organization.

c.  The governing body of the organization should have a valid PAN card and Aadhaar card.

d.  The registration certificate should be authentic.
 

Note: An individual is not eligible for NGO Darpan Registration.
 

NGO Darpan

A platform providing a point of interaction between Voluntary Organisations/Non-Government Organizations and key Government Ministries / Departments / Government Bodies. At present, NITI Aayog manages this portal.

Registration on this portal is free of cost. NITI Aayog has associated with National Informatics Centre in order to bring a great partnership between the Government sector and the voluntary sector. This will encourage the transparency, efficiency and accountability.

  • Full details of the schemes of the participating Ministries/Departments/Government Bodies offering grants to Voluntary Organization / Non-Government Organizations
  • Online application for availing the grants or funds from the government sectors
  • Application status of the grants can be easily tracked.
     

Registration Process

  • Visit the official website of NGO Darpan, i.e.  https://ngodarpan.gov.in/, for the NGO Darpan Registration.
  • Then select Login/Register Link and thereafter click on Sign Up Option.
  • Details such as Name of the NGO /VO, Mobile number and email id of the Contact should be provided for the signup purpose. After entering the required details and the security code as given, submit the details. 
  • A page will appear where you have to mention the PAN number of the organization and an OTP as received by you on your registered mobile number and email id. After the OTP verification, you will be required to generate the password for login into your NGO Darpan account.
  • Visit the home age again and now select the login option. Enter the Login Id which is the PAN number of the organization and the password.
  • Now your account page will appear where you will be required to fill the following details regarding the NGO/VO:
  • a.  Address of the NGO
  • b.  Name of the Registration authority of NGO/VO i.e Under which act NGO/VO is registered.
  • c.  Fill the Registration number and then have to upload the copy of Registration Certificate for verification purpose.
  • d.  Name of the Act and Registration date under this Act
  • e.  Other registration details will be required, if registered under FCRA Registration, GST Registration etc.
  • Minimum 3 Members detail as on the date of Application.
  • If in the last 5 years fund received from any government bodies, then the full detail of source of funds will be required.
  • Key Person details are required who can be contacted in case of any Query.
  • Details related to NGO’s/VO’s main area of working with state. This is important because, on the basis of this working area you will receive grant from Government Departments.
  • After providing all the requisite details your profile will be 100% complete. Now you will have to submit these details.
  • After submitting the application, your file will be sent to the concerned officer for the purpose of Processing.
  • If the officer is satisfied after the proper verification of the application, he/she will approve the application and if not satisfied, the officer can ask for re-submission of the application.
  • A unique Id will be allotted when the application is approved, which will be used in future for all correspondence purpose with Government.
     

Time Involved

The NGO Darpan registration will take around 3-5 working days’ time for approval.
