Indian Wrestler & Gold Medallist PAWAN KUMAR also known as PAWAN SAROHA talks in brief about his life, journey and his ambition.

Exclusive interview with CLIQTAX:

Pawan Saroha, a freestyle Indian wrestler, was born on 16 October, 1993, and belongs to Nangal Thakran village of North Delhi. He completed his graduation from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana and is Hindu by religion.

Speaking about his passion to join wrestling, Pawan consider his elder brothers Rakesh Kumar and Rajesh Kumar as his idol and mentor, who inspired him to choose wrestling as his career and made him to practice wrestling for continuous two hours in early morning since his childhood.

“I started my wrestling at the age of 8 years when we were in village and the passion of wrestling boosted at the age of 16 when I started playing in Chhatrasal Stadium, Delhi” Pawan says.

Like many other sports person, Pawan also faced many challenges in his initial days.

The turning point in his career was when he won the Gold medal in Commonwealth Championship and Bronze medal in Junior Asian Championship in the year 2011 followed by Bronze medal in Commonwealth Games 2014. 

After missing out on selections in some of international tournaments which also included the Commonwealth Games of 2018, he bounced back to his style, and won the selection trials to make it to the Indian team for the Asian Games and also won Gold medal in South Asian Games in 2019.

Pawan believes that his family is a backbone for him and has always supported him to pursue his career. His family always motivated him to pursue his dream and always stood by him, whatever the circumstances may be. 

Pawan also believe that his wife Mrs. Geeta Phogat has always been a motivation for him and has been the pillar of strength in all ups and downs. Even being an experienced wrestler and an Olympian, she always makes notes of his techniques during training sessions and all these come really handy and guide him all the way.

Though Pawan has won several medals but Pawan’s ambition is to win gold medal in the Olympics for his country. “It is a really proud moment to get a medal for the country but there is lot more to achieve in life and focus is to win gold medal in Olympics for the country” Pawan added.

CLIQTAX asked Pawan about and his advice to the millennials who want to be sports people be and who look upon him as his idol.

On this Pawan told that- “Set the target and be focused and make continuous efforts until you achieve the goal”.
