Mr. Pichai with utmost excitement has shared Google’s journey in India which started in the year 2004. In the year 2004, Google has opened its first office in Hyderabad and Bangalore.

He stated that in those days their main focus was to provide relevant and effective information to Indian users through search.

The search can relate to any things such as searching for cricket scores, weather forecast, search for celebrities, etc.

He further said that through that time Google helped in spreading awareness related to the use of the Internet across the nation through various programs. He mentioned some of those programs, such as:

Internet Saathi – This program helped more than 30 million women across the nation. The internet Saathi helped women to gain skills and knowledge related to the internet in order to improve their lives and their community.

G-Pay – An UPI payment interface has been introduced to help in realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of cashless India. Through this, anyone can make an instant payment or transfer, etc.

Tutor App “Read Along” (formerly Known as Bolo) - This is an Artificial Intelligence tutor App which is helping the Indians to learn to read on their own. This program turned out to be the successful one and so the giant tech company Google will roll it out to the rest of the world.

Artificial Intelligence flood forecasting system: This was designed to keep the people of India safe in the monsoon season. He further said that the new investment will help India to achieve a new milestone in the digital area and build the country’s economy.

He also mentioned how small and medium businesses are trying to establish themselves in the digital world. They are now making and receiving the payment through the digital medium.

This digital medium is now helping them to reach out to maximum customers via online selling of their goods and services.

Conclusion

In the current scenario where the whole world is suffering from the ongoing pandemic caused by the Covid-19 which has turned out to be a great hurdle in every country’s economic growth.

Such a major investment from Google has turned to be a blessing in disguise for India as the Country’s falling economy. We can hope that such investment will give a certain amount of relief to the nation’s economy which is going down day by day.
