Why it is targeting the COVID 19 Patients?

As we know that immunity plays a major role in protecting a person from diseases. People suffering from diabetes and other diseases in which they took immunosuppressant’s are more prone to this infection. COVID 19 patients are also in the High-risk Zone.

Doctors said COVID 19 is treated by giving steroids to the person which compromises the immunity. But there is no other option available other than steroids it is only the life-saving option for critically ill COVID patients. Steriods helps in decreasing the inflammation of the lungs but weakened the immune system of an individual. Patients who are in ICU for a long time also come in the High-Risk Zone of Mucormycosis.

Symptoms of Mucormycosis

After getting rid of COVID, Patients should regularly monitor blood sugar levels. Diabetic patients should take antibiotics, antifungal medicines, and others judiciously to keep  themselves protected. Hospitals should use clean and sterile water for humidifiers for oxygen supply.

Doctors suggested noticing the symptoms at initial levels and start the treatment because in later phases it cannot be treated and lead to the death of the person. Use masks at the construction sites.

Patients should manage their diabetes and Diabetic Ketoacidosis.  Doctors should reduce the number of steroids given to patients suffering from COVID 19. Immunomodulating drugs should be stopped. Doctors can go for surgery in case of severe infection and remove the dead (Necrotic) tissue. Antifungal therapy has been advised for at least four to six weeks. Amphotericin B has been used for the treatments.
